…is this thing on? hi, it has been a while. The end of summer/beginning of Fall always seems to be such a busy/inspiring/wonderful time. Mine has been spent helping my best friend prepare for her wedding, celebrating birthdays (including my own), going on mini dates with my hubby, and working on RVA craft projects for their online Autumn class! Seriously, next time there is a class, sign up. It’s exactly as much fun as you think.

Today
I feel the desire for a *real* blog (again). A place to share the many wonders, heartbreaks and gifts of life. A place to blab on about myself if I need to (let’s be honest). A place to connect. It is in the works and has been coming for a while… I *think* I am ready to venture back into the bloggy world. I will still be here (and I hope much more often than of late).

Today… is my birthday. I am a proud 28 year old who bought an iPhone and saw Harry Potter in 3D IMAX all in the same week. Tonight, before sharing dinner and cupcakes with my family, I will be attending a memorial service for the father of one of my oldest friends. One of my oldest friends, who up until a couple of weeks ago, I was not on speaking terms with as we realized we are going into different (but both valid and joyous) life paths. A friend I have missed. And his family that always welcomed me.
This life is fleeting and precious. Through the darkness, there is light. And this is what I hold onto, along with the bright smile that never ceased to cross his father’s sweet face (usually followed by “Hey Jenn!).” Oh, he is missed.
Today, I will do my best (along with the community of loved ones) to be the strength my friend needs as all of our hearts break.
